This weekend we had to say “Farvel” (goodbye) to our BEST friends here in Denmark.
The Foley family: John, Rebecca, Diana, and Mary.
They moved to Denmark 3 years ago with a 3 year contract with John’s work.
We met them a little over 2 years ago at an international church here in Denmark.
Pearl instantly clung to Diana and they chased each other at church and became friends.
Getting to know Rebecca has been such a great blessing. We of course love Europe, but both miss family and all the conveniences of America. We love to talk about Target, our weird Danish apartments, peanut butter, and what tv shows we’re watching.
John recently got a job in Virginia so they are moving back to United States. I know they are happy to get back to America, and see family, but I am terribly sad to see them go.
When you live so far away from what you would call home, and you don’t have any family around, your friends become your family.
The Foley family has become our family.
We have celebrated Christmas together,
had Easter egg hunt
ate American food on July 4th
lit sparklers outside late at night
fed the ducks by our apartment
played at numerous parks
made (and ate) lots of sugar cookies
and exchanged babysitting.
It’s hard to write down our feelings, but this family has been a great blessing to us and we are HAPPY for them…..but sad they are leaving Denmark.
We are already planning on getting together next time we come to America.
WE LOVE YOU FOLEY FAMILY
